| "Its effect on males" ? Have you ever picked up a copy of Maxim magazine? Well for one thing companies like Playboy offer a handful of millions to already well-known female celebrities to take off their clothes for their pages. If Playboy can pay that kind of money think how many magazines they are actually going to sell with the photos of that female celebrity. But to answer your question it basically entertains the male gender, and they end up paying for that entertainment. It transcends farther than just the sale of the photos in a magazine or from a website. The guy reading the magazine will most likely remember and put a name and face together of the female celebrity for future reference. He'll pay to watch her movies, waste his time sitting on his couch when her stupid reality tv show is on, etc. So in the end, it will cause the guy to waste his money and time focusing on the female celebrity who in the end, he will never meet much less take to bed. "Undue advantage to mass media", well why do you think they put hot looking girls on the cover of magazines and on billboards? Because they know it will gather attention from the viewer and the advertiser who paid the pretty girl to pose for their ad will be able to sell more product that way. So I suppose the companies with the most money, it is to their advantage and wisdom to hire the best looking, best reputable girls out there, and they usually do, unless the product is being sold to females also, in which case they can't because other girls who see the ad will often times become jealous of the prettier girl in the ad that they will never measure up to. A good example of this would be that supermodel Gisele, she's all over the place and made almost $40 million last year. Cellular phone companies in other countries hired her and said their sales increased that much more because of her. I suppose celebrities like Angelina Jolie demand too much money for companies to be able to hire her. You figure if she is earning $15 million for a movie she would command at least 3 times that for any kind of endorsement deal outside of films. I remember when Catherine Zeta Jones used to do those T-Mobile commercials. Also, I heard Halle Berry got an extra $500,000 for her nude scene in that movie "Swordfish". |
